Chamber President Ann Ormond recently attended a meeting of Massachusetts Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE) members as they welcomed Lt. Governor Karyn Polito. The Lt. Governor was on a listening tour of the business community, in between dealing with snowstorms. Here is a brief overview of what is happening at the State House. The Administration is working on an economic development plan broken down by regions of the State. They want to know what is working and what is not, what are our region’s strengths and what is unique to our region.
Secretaries of Education and Economic Development will be working together more closely to address the needs of workforce development and to grow the employer base around the Commonwealth. They are asking regions to help them by mapping out our economic development region. They are looking to engage in a conversation on best practices in the business community. The Administration will be working on two major social issues – opiate addiction and homelessness. The Administration wants to spotlight excellence in the many regions.
