It has been said that “It Takes a village to raise a child” – in the case when businesses suffer a devastating fire – it takes a community to come together to help each other. The greater Newburyport community has reached out to the businesses that suffered significant losses last month during the Liberty Street fire.
As usual, the community of Newburyport has rallied together as a community that cares and takes care of each other when something bad happens. Thus…Let’s get FiredUP NBPT – Join the City of Newburyport, the Chamber and the Firehouse Center for the Arts along with members of the Newburyport business community have come together to plan a fundraising event entitled “Fired Up NBPT” to assist with financial needs that will not be covered by the business owner’s insurance.
On Wednesday, July 20, downtown Newburyport will be the centerpiece of this fundraising event. The Firehouse will offer musical entertainment from 5 – 9 PM. Billed as a “musical open house” – three local bands have donated their time and talent to offer entertainment for the event attendees.
In addition to the entertainment, a raffle of local retail items and beer and wine (donations suggested) will be available as well. Suggested donation for the event at the Firehouse is $25 per person.
In addition to the musical open house, local restaurants and retailers will offer percentages on the proceeds from their sales that day to the relief fund. You can listen to some great music, enjoy fabulous dining, shopping and services all while supporting our neighbors and benefiting a great cause.
