Baker Newman Noyes Welcomes Nicholas Sampson as Managing Director of Client Accounting & Advisory Services

Baker Newman Noyes (BNN), one of the nation’s top 100 accounting and advisory firms with offices in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, announced that Nicholas Sampson has joined the firm as a Managing Director based in its Boston office. In this role, Sampson will lead BNN’s Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice. As lead, Sampson is responsible for executing on the long-term strategy for the CAAS practice, building upon the existing strength of the team while pursuing additional growth and business development opportunities.

Museum of Old Newbury Announces Garden Dreams, the 45th Annual Garden Tour

Newburyport, MA: The Museum of Old Newbury is proud to present the 45th Annual Garden Tour, scheduled for Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, 2024. Ten beautiful private gardens and one stunning park garden will be open for ticket holders only from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets are valid for both days.

The Museum of Old Newbury celebrates and shares the history of Old Newbury, and this year, the garden tour showcases gardens from the Parker River to the Artichoke. This year’s gardens range from formal estate gardens to exuberant backyard retreats, and offer shady retreats and modern touches in unexpected places. Walk through a labyrinth, learn about how gardens can become more resilient in the face of climate change, and enjoy a weekend of community fun. There is something for everyone, from the casual visitor to the most accomplished gardener. The 1808 Cushing House Museum at 98 High Street, Newburyport, will be open for walk-through tours, and heirloom plants will be on sale in the garden.

Exhibition and Sale of Watercolors - “Friends!”

Three accomplished watercolorists will exhibit work that will be on view to the public and available for sale from April 1 through to June 1, 2024, at the Grog Restaurant, 13 Middle Street, Newburyport.

Karen Fitzgerald, Mary Ann McCarthy McArdle, and Peggy Poppe, are good friends that have been painting together plein air for several years and are early members of the Newburyport Watercolor Interest Group, started by Peggy.

“Any Color So Long As It Is Not Black” on Display at New England Wine & Spirits
Eric Smith’s Photography Captures Colorful Style of Vintage Cars 
Newburyport, MA, Aug. 7, 2023 – Local fine-art photographer Eric Smith’s work is featured throughout the month of August at New England Wine & Spirits, located at 155 State Street in Newburyport, MA. The exhibition’s title, “Any Color So Long As It Is Not Black,” is a riff on the famous quote by Henry Ford about mass producing the Model T. Accordingly, there are no photos of black-colored cars in the exhibit.
There will be an artist reception and wine-tasting from 4-6 on Friday, August 18. The public is invited to attend. All of his framed images are for sale, along with smaller, matted photos of rusty cars.

Tourism Efforts Boosted this Spring with North of Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau Mini Grant Awards

Salisbury, MA, May 9, 2023 –The North of Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (NBCVB) recently announced the local organizations that will be receiving $58,000 in mini grant funding as part of its mission to encourage the 34 cities and towns of Essex County as a tourism destination. Members, local chambers of commerce, destination marketing organizations, supporters of tourism, and legislators gathered Friday, May 5 at the Maria Miles Visitor Center located on I-95 South (exit 90) to celebrate the tourism and hospitality industries that drive the local economy.
